Blame it on the Bieber

Gah, I can’t keep my eyes open and there’s still plenty of daylight left and so much to do.

I blame my lack of sleep on Justin Bieber.

It probably wasn’t the best idea to stay up watching ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’ on my redeye flight home last night/this morning. I wanted to sleep, but since it was playing on all the screens it was hard not to watch. Plus I’ve heard so many great things about it I had to see for myself. That is one talented kid, I tell you.

I finally got home around breakfast time and cooked up a bowl of oat bran topped with frozen strawberries and peaches and some tropical papaya muffins and jam.

Frozen fruits are perfect oat companions during the summer time because it’s wayy too hot to be eating a steaming hot bowl of oats.  I like the hot&cold contrast of the oats and fruit.  (And they also work because there was no sign of any fresh fruit at the casa this morning).

The papaya muffins were a nice addition to my usual bowl of fruity oats. I realized today that the papaya muffins have more of an cinnamon-y oat bran/carrot cake taste to it than actual papaya.  Maybe that’s why I like it so much??  I guess the papaya acts more as a moisture agent towards the muffins than giving it a full on papaya taste.

This week passed by way too quickly and I’m kinda sad I didn’t get to do everything I had intended to.  Especially one of my favorite things, stand-up paddling.  Guess I’ll be sure to make time for it in August when I go back.

And because it’s Friday



As much as I’d still rather be in the Aloha state, I’m going to have to embrace TX and all its 100 degree heat.  But only for another week and a half!

Scuba Diving

I passed my test (!) and am officially certified to scuba dive in open water with or without an instructor.  I don’t think I’ll ever be diving without an instructor though. The underwater world is a whole different land and there’s no way I’m prepared to go without someone familiar with the water and area.


Scenic Runs

This is part of the route I run whenever I’m in Hawaii.  It’s breezy, gorgeous, and so calming in the mornings. The closest I’ll be to any water these days are morning sprinklers.


This was my pre-flight snack yesterday and so not what I had expected.  Is it just me or is Pinkberry’s fro-yo slightly chalky tasting. I’m more of a Red Mango fan.

I would say TGIF, but I’m really not all that glad it’s Friday today. It means I only have a day and a half left to get the majority of my assignments done before they’re due on Sunday. Thats what I get for slacking all week…

I attempted to get some work done this afternoon, but no such luck. I actually fell asleep for about 30 mins at my desk and woke up extremely groggy with a crick in my neck. Gotta blame it on the Bieber 😉

In & Out Numba 2

Sometimes when life comes at you too fast, you embrace it and take it all in. Or in my case, take a nap.

I hate taking naps.  It makes me feel extremely unproductive and like I’m wasting valuable time.  Today, I just couldn’t help it. I was working on my computer and getting squat done when I came to the realization that if I wanted to get anything accomplished this afternoon I needed some rest.  So against all will, I did it.  I took a 45 min nap and a cup of emergen-c and I’m feeling refreshed and ready to tackle my massive to-do list.

So without further ado (now that I’m back to normal and can actually focus 🙂 ), I continue with my new friday tradition and give you my Friday In’s and Out’s (2nd edition).  By the way, I cannot believe it’s Friday already.  This week seriously flew by!



I got new running shoes recently and I love them like no other.  I used to wear nike’s of some sort and I thought they were comfortable and perfectly ok, but then I put these on…and oh boy, I don’t think I’ll ever be going back to nike runners.


Summer time and warm weather calls for bbq’s and breaking out those grills!  There’s nothing better than some deliciously grilled fruits and veggies with those pretty little grill lines.

Sweet & Savory Lunches

I’ve been particularly fond of my lunches lately.  One savory sandwich and one sweet sandwich.  And eaten in that order. Perfect balance.

In-season Fruits

I never get tired of fruits especially those that are currently in season.  I’ve been enjoying seeing more and more summer fruits pop up at my local grocers.

My Camelbak

Okay, I seriously can’t get enough of this thing. I’ve been drinking a lot more water these days and loving it.  Even though I literally have to pee what feels like all the time now (TMI?). I enjoy using it so much it had to make a second appearance on my list.


Running Outdoors in the Afternoons

I took this yesterday in my car.  101. It’s officially too hot.  Especially with that incident I had last Saturday, I don’t think I’d like to risk getting dehydrated again.  I’m in amazement of those, few as it may be, who still continue to run in the afternoons in the blazing sun.

Hot Drinks

I think when it’s too hot to be running outdoors, its too hot to be drinking hot drinks.  Bring on the ice, ice, baby!

Summer School

It’s been all of a couple weeks and I’m already kinda over it.  What does that say about my attention span? 😉

Farmers Tans

I don’t have a picture to show for it, but believe me when I tell you I have quite the hideous farmers tan.  And it was all from that one day I spent outdoors caddying for my sister.

Spinach Smoothies

It’s been over two weeks since I’ve added any spinach to my smoothies.  I keep forgetting to buy it when I go to the grocery store and I’m too lazy to make a special trip just for the sake of some extra vitamins, calcium, iron, and whatnot.

In & Out

So I thought I’d start summing up my weeks by posting about what’s in or out (to me) each Friday. Today marks my inaugural Friday ‘in & out’.


My Camelbak and it’s in my favorite color – blue!

According to studies done at Pepperdine University, people with camelbak’s drink up to 24% more water a day.  I didn’t really think too much of it at first, but I’ve really been drinking more water ever since I got it.  It’s so much easier to drink water when you don’t have to screw the cap on and off.  Wow, I just re-read that last sentence and it makes me sounds extremely lazy, like I can’t even unscrew a cap.  But believe me, this thing rocks!

Everyday Food

Just got the most recent issue in the mail today!  One of my favorite mags.

My infiniti curler

This thing does wonders to your hair.  It’s by far my favorite curler because it creates the most natural looking waves or curls.

Summer school

First week and so far so good.  I’m sure it’ll get old real soon.

These are my ABSOLUTE favorite bars.  I ran out and didn’t eat them for a while, but I’ve restocked!

I’ve used it so much the lettering is starting to fade.  I’m not sure how many times I’ve dropped this bottle and yet it’s still intact (albeit with a few bumps and bruises).


The sun has been out and shining the past couple days and the dark and dreary days are long forgotten.

Season finales have come and gone…now I have to wait til September to find out what’ll happen next.

As it is officially summer weather here, I can no longer wear this to my morning workouts.  Too bad…its so warm and cozy.

So that’s what’s been going on in my life this week.
